We had a big release behind the scenes last night. We cleaned up a lot of things in SocialSpark. As a result I have got great news for those bloggers participating in SocialSpark Affiliate Opps. You now have the ability to strip out the destination URL of a text link and use it to create your own custom links. Here is how you do it.

1. Go to the get code page of an Affiliate Opp and click get code for the text link.

Get Code

2. When the code comes up copy the href portion of the code only.

This straight url will allow you to create your own blog links from text or photos back to the advertiser and still get compensated. It also empowers you to get a little creative and use your other social media profiles. For example, I did a tweet this morning Xshot. I realize this is kind of a hack for right now. We are going to clean it up and make it more usable in future.

Please remember if you use these links in another way you still need to disclose. This opens up a whole new can of worms in terms of standardizing disclosure in Tweets and posts on other social media sites like Facebook.

We are trying to figure out the best way to do it. I would like to propose we add a (spon), (adv) or #spon to the end of micro posts (which I realize I didn’t do in my tweet). I am open to feedback. How would you like to see this happen? Should the manner of disclosure even be standardized?
